Kali Aman-Carrier
Kali Aman-Carrier (she/her) is a third-year Government major with a minor in Black Studies and a certificate in German. She is deeply passionate about community service, creativity, and advocacy for underserved populations. Kali is particularly drawn to Alternative Breaks because the program allows her to serve communities beyond the Austin area while gaining firsthand insight into the challenges these communities face. By immersing herself in diverse environments, she is committed to educating herself, engaging meaningfully, and advocating for change. The program fosters her dedication to active citizenship and lifelong service to others, values that will guide her future endeavors.
Paarvi Chand
Paarvi Chand (she/her) is a first-year Biology major who is enthusiastic about contributing to the local community through various service initiatives. She is interested in Alternative Breaks because she is driven by a desire to make a positive impact in her surroundings and looks forward to gaining valuable experiences by actively engaging in local service projects. Through these experiences, Paarvi aims to develop essential skills that will support her academic growth and future career in the biological sciences.
Anna Grove
Anna Grove (she/her) is a 3rd neuroscience and physics double major. She is passionate about mental health advocacy and public service. She is involved in with AB because she places a high value on travel and learning about our communities outside your own. Learning about how other people live and the problems that they face make you a more educated and well rounded citizen.
Sierra Nguyen
Sierra Nguyen (she/her) is a 2nd year Marketing student, with a minor in Management Information Systems, who is committed to making a difference through community service. Sierra is dedicated to the Alternative Breaks initiative because she believes that service is a direct way to be a part of something greater and create positive change in others' lives. Growing up, Sierra regularly volunteered in various communities, which inspired her compassion for others, and she is committed to continuing this work in the future by finding new ways to support those in need. Alternative Breaks is especially meaningful to her because it allows her to step outside her usual environment, broaden her perspective, and contribute to communities in need. Outside of her work in service and leadership, Sierra enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors, attending concerts, and finding new plants to add to her growing collection.
