About Us | The Collective

The UT Community Engagement Collective (CEC) is a network of students passionate about community engagement and community service. The CEC’s vision is that all UT students will be active citizens, and the collective is an organization where anyone can find a place to get involved. The collective’s goal is to create community by leveraging university resources to meet community priorities.

What we do

Host major programs and events (Alternative breaks, The Project, Volunteer UT) to keep UT students engaged in the wider Austin community and beyond

Work to build intentional and sustained partnerships with community partners to create lasting change

How to get involved

Committee Chair

Serve as a leader of one of our 7 Collective committees

Guide committee members to set and meet specific goals
Hold weekly Office Hours and Collaboration Sessions
4 hr/week commitment

Join the group as a general member

Attend weekly general body meetings.

Core Values

Committees

Community Relations

The Community Relations committee are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders who reside outside of the UT Austin community. They serve as the primary point of contact with community leaders to ensure the community priorities are being met.

Education

The Education Committee make actionable the Collective’s commitment to having members who are well-versed on topics of social justice, community engagement, and active citizenship.

Special Events

The Special Events committee serve as the primary coordinators and planners of “The Project” -- UT’s largest day of service. They coordinate all of the programmatic logistics for the full-day event and are the primary contact with community site partners from the designated Austin neighborhood both leading up to and following The Project

Trips

The Trips Committee plans service-learning, social-justice oriented trips within the United States & abroad.This committee serves as the leaders for the trips and incorporate reflection elements throughout the trip process.

Development

The Development committee manages funds, apply for grants, secure sponsorships, manage fundraising, and maintain organized financial records. They secure in-kind donations in support of AB, The Project, and the Collective as a whole.

Outreach

The Outreach Committee helps manage the public image and brand of the Collective, as well as all external communications and promotional events. This committee is responsible for recruitment and promotion for all events and ongoing CEC programs using campus and community networks

Culture + Membership

The role of Culture Committee in this committee is to work to build community across all committees, leadership, and membership. This committee will focus on creating a positive experience for everyone to ensure that members understand and embody the vision and values of the collective.
